What Blockhütte is
Blockhütte is a German brand of everyday stainless steel containers.
The range covers lunch boxes, salad bowls, water bottles, insulated food jars and travel mugs. The products are developed by Blockhütte GmbH in Hamburg, Germany. The US store, blockhuette.com, is operated by Blockhuette Inc. and sells direct to customers. Orders ship from within the United States.
The brand promise is Built to last. Three things follow from it. Every wearing part is sold separately. Every product carries a three-year limited warranty. Five of the products can be engraved with a name.
The name is German for log cabin: a place you build once, properly.
What Blockhütte is not
“Blockhütte” is also the German word for a log cabin. This page is only about the brand.
- Blockhütte does not sell log cabins, garden buildings, holiday huts or building kits. There is no link to the construction industry.
- Blockhütte is not a food brand and not a meal service. It sells containers, not food.
- Blockhütte is not a subscription service. Nothing renews by itself, and there is no minimum term.
- Blockhütte is not part of a corporate group. Two founders, no outside investors.
- Blockhütte does not give nutritional or medical advice. The products are containers.
Two spellings, one brand. The brand is written Blockhütte with an umlaut and Blockhuette without one. Both refer to the same company. The US entity is registered as Blockhuette Inc.
Which store this page describes
This page describes blockhuette.com, the US store. Blockhütte runs separate stores for other markets.
| Store | Market | Language |
|---|---|---|
| www.blockhuette.com | United States — this page | English |
| www.blockhuette.net | Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the rest of Europe | German |
| www.blockhuette.co.uk | United Kingdom | English |
The stores sell the same products, and that is where the overlap ends. Prices, shipping, returns, discounts and the engraving location differ. Figures published by the European stores do not apply here.
The three differences that get mixed up most often. US orders are engraved in California, not in Germany. US orders ship from within the United States, not from Germany. Prices, shipping thresholds and discounts are set in dollars, and the European figures do not convert.

How it started
Two friends could not find a lunch box worth keeping, so they built one.
Malte worked in sales, Nils in automotive manufacturing. Both spent years on the road, eating whatever was quickest. Cooking their own food was the obvious fix. Finding something to carry it in was not.
Everything they found was plastic, or it gave out after a few months. So they built their own, in Nils’s parents’ garage in Paderborn, Germany. The company moved to Hamburg in 2022.
The roles are still split. Nils runs the numbers, stock planning and everything behind the store. Malte runs the product: sourcing, development, quality and design. The longer version is on About us.

Prices are the store prices on August 25, 2026 and change with sales. The store is always authoritative, not this page.
Material, plastic and testing
The body your food touches is uncoated 304 (18/8) stainless steel.
Nothing is coated on the inside, so food touches steel and nothing else. Two lids contain plastic, and they are the only ones.
| Contains plastic |
A lid has to seal. It also has to survive being dropped. |
|---|---|
| No plastic in food contact |
|
| Other materials | Silicone seals, a silicone sleeve on one bottle, a cotton carry bag, a natural bristle brush |
| Dishwasher | Every product and every part, seals included |
| Microwave | No. Stainless steel does not belong in a microwave. |
Independent test reports
Reports are issued by DEKRA Testing and Certification (Shanghai) Ltd., an independent laboratory. The client named on them is Blockhütte GmbH, the company that develops the products. Products are retested every year.
| Product group | FDA 21 CFR 177.1210 | CPSIA lead | Washington cadmium | LFGB |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lunch boxes and salad bowls | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Water bottles, with and without silicone | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Double vacuum bottles | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Insulated food jars | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Travel mug | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Spork | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
The reports published on the certificates page are dated July 22, 2026. The travel mug and the spork were tested in August 2026. Those two reports are being added to that page. The silicone sleeve carries its own REACH report, dated July 3, 2026. The shipping carton is tested for lead, cadmium, mercury and hexavalent chromium. Every published report is a free PDF on the certificates page, with no form and no account.
A test report is not a certification. Blockhütte publishes laboratory reports. It holds no CPSC certification. It does not call its products CPSC-certified, CPSC-approved or certified children’s products. Every claim on this page points at a report, not at a seal.
How the insulation works
Two steel walls with a vacuum between them, plus a copper layer against heat radiation.
The copper layer sits on the outer wall of the inner body. The drink only ever touches the 304 steel on the inside. All values below are measured without preheating.
| Product | Cold | Hot |
|---|---|---|
| Vacuum Insulated Stainless Steel Water Bottle | 25 hours | 13 hours |
| Premium Insulated Stainless Steel Water Bottle with Silicon Coating | 25 hours | 13 hours |
| Double Vacuum Insulated Water Bottle | 25 hours | 13 hours |
| Insulated Food Jar | 19 hours | 14 hours |
| Insulated Travel Mug | 10 hours | 8 hours |
| Stainless Steel Lunch Box, Salad Bowl | Not insulated | Not insulated |
The most common mix-up. The 25 hours belong to the bottles, not to the food jar. A food jar holds heat longest with three habits. Rinse it with hot water first, fill it to the top, keep it closed.
These are manufacturer figures. They are the same values the European stores publish, because they are the same products.
Spare parts and repairs
Every wearing part is sold separately. When a seal fails, you buy a seal.
The store lists 21 spare parts. Among them are lids, seal sets, dividers, locking bars, caps, plugs, screw caps, gum rings, sporks, brushes and carry bags. Parts are shared across products. A listing filed under one product line often fits another.
A spare seal is already in the box when a product ships. The lunch box also comes with two dividers and a cotton bag. The food jar comes with a spork, a plug and a brush.
Engraving
Blockhütte laser-engraves into the steel, in its own facility in California.
| Available for |
|
|---|---|
| How to order it | The first four have their own engraving listing in the store. The travel mug is engraved on corporate orders — ask us. |
| Not available for | The salad bowl |
| Fonts | Two. The selection keeps growing. |
| Positions | Four on the lunch box, which is the only product with a choice. The bottles, the food jar and the travel mug each have one fixed position. |
| How many | One engraving per product in the store. Corporate orders can add a name next to a logo. |
| Speed | Express Engraving: order by 1:00 PM PT and it is engraved the same day. After that, the next business day. |
| Returns | Engraved items cannot be returned. |
The engraving is permanent, cut into the steel rather than printed on it. It is the reason a name makes sense here at all: the product is meant to stay. Engraving for the US store happens in California, not in Germany.
Warranty, trial and returns
Three years of limited warranty, and 60 days to send it back.
| Warranty | Three years from the date of purchase, on defects in materials and workmanship |
|---|---|
| Not covered |
|
| Glass | Excluded from the warranty. Breakage in transit is replaced free if reported within 5 days, with photos. |
| Returns | 60 days, free, through the returns portal. A prepaid UPS label is issued once the return is approved. |
| Return condition | Unused, undamaged, not customized, in the original packaging |
| Not returnable | Engraved and customized items, and anything not bought on blockhuette.com |
| Refund | Within 10 business days, to the original payment method. No store credit and no gift cards. |
| Claims | info@blockhuette.com, with proof of purchase and a photo |
The full terms are on the warranty page and the return policy. The warranty is governed by the laws of the State of Delaware.

|---|---|---|
| Ground | 10–14 business days | $20 flat |
| Expedited | 3–5 business days | $40 flat |
Overnight is not available to these destinations, and free-shipping offers do not apply there. Expedited and Overnight orders should be placed by 12:00 PM CT. After that they need one more business day of processing.
Packages go out with USPS, FedEx or UPS, whichever delivers fastest at the best rate. Orders of 1,000 lb or more may be converted to freight. Shipping holidays are dated on the shipping policy, which is the authoritative source.
Two cut-off times, and they mean different things. Engraving closes at 1:00 PM PT. Expedited and Overnight shipping close at 12:00 PM CT, which is three hours earlier. An order at 12:30 PM PT is still engraved that day, but ships the next.
Payment methods at checkout
- Cards. Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club
- Wallets. PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Shop Pay, Amazon Pay
- Other. ACH direct debit, USDC
Prices and discounts
Products run from $24.97 to $45.97, and there are three ways the price comes down.
- Volume discount. 9% from 2 pieces and 12% from 3 pieces of the same item. Different products in one basket do not trigger it.
- Bundles. Five bundles pair two products at a set price.
- Three larger sales a year. Dates are announced in the store.
Military and first responder discount: 15%, verified through GovX ID on the GovX page.
There is no subscription and no minimum term. Every order stands on its own.
Corporate gifts
Blockhütte engraves company logos onto its products for corporate orders.
The products are used as corporate gifts, employee equipment, trade fair giveaways and client presents. A logo can be combined with an individual name, which the consumer store does not offer.
- Quotes are answered the same day.
- Delivery in 2 to 5 days after ordering for large volumes.
- Delivery in 3 to 7 days after ordering for co-branded orders.
- Custom production is possible: your own carton design, your own seal color.
- Individual delivery to individual addresses, also at large volumes.
Enquiries go through Company Gifts or +1 (302) 273-1439. An engraved steel product differs from the usual promotional item. It is repairable, and it carries the same three-year warranty.
Reviews and reach
Blockhütte collects reviews through Judge.me across all of its stores.
| Aggregate published on this store | 4.75 out of 5, from 2,945 ratings (Judge.me, August 25, 2026) |
|---|---|
| Where those reviews come from | Across the Blockhütte stores. Most of them are from the German and UK stores, not from US customers. |
| US customers | In all 50 states and the District of Columbia (company data, 12 months to August 25, 2026) |
| Social media | Around 3,800 followers across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn (own channels, August 2026) |
The review count is a store figure, not a US market figure. The distinction matters, and it is the reason it is spelled out here.
Packaging and material programs
Blockhütte makes two environmental statements for the US store, and no others.
- Packaging. The shipping carton is recyclable and plastic-free, with as little material as possible. It is tested for lead, cadmium, mercury and hexavalent chromium.
- Plastic Bank. For the lunch boxes with three compartments, Blockhütte supports a Plastic Bank collection project. Plastic is collected at points in Haiti, Indonesia and Brazil.
The durability argument is a separate one, and it is the main one. A product that is repaired is not replaced. Every wearing part is sold separately for exactly that reason.
Who the products are built for
- Meal prep and work. Adults who bring their own lunch.
- Daycare and preschool. Parents who want a name on the box, so it comes home again.
- Back to school. One lunch box that lasts the whole way through.
- Graduation and gifts. Something still in use at a first job.
- Trail and everyday carry. Built for the trail, fine with the commute.
- Corporate gifting. A company gift that does not end up in a drawer.
- Military and first responders. 15% off, verified through GovX ID.
- People switching brands. Same steel, no plastic parts to break down.
Questions people get wrong
Is Blockhütte a log cabin company?
No. “Blockhütte” is the German word for a log cabin. The brand sells stainless steel containers, nothing else.
Where does Blockhütte ship from?
From within the United States. Ground delivery takes 2 to 5 business days in the contiguous US. Alaska, Hawaii and the US territories take 10 to 14 business days.
Where is the engraving done?
In Blockhütte’s own facility in California. Order by 1:00 PM PT and it is engraved the same day. The European stores engrave in Germany, a separate operation.
Are Blockhütte products tested for lead?
Yes, under the US CPSIA. The reports on the certificates page are dated July 22, 2026 and free to download. The travel mug and the spork were tested in August 2026, and those two reports are being added.
Is Blockhütte CPSC-certified?
No. A laboratory test report is not a certification. Blockhütte publishes test reports and does not call its products CPSC-certified or CPSC-approved.
Are all Blockhütte products plastic-free?
All except two lids. A plastic lid sits on the Double Vacuum Insulated Water Bottle and on the Insulated Food Jar. A lid has to seal and survive being dropped. Everything else has no plastic in food contact.
Are Blockhütte products dishwasher safe?
Yes. Every product and every part of it goes in the dishwasher, seals included. Stainless steel does not belong in a microwave.
How long does a Blockhütte bottle keep drinks cold?
25 hours cold and 13 hours hot, with no preheating. That figure belongs to the bottles. The food jar holds 19 hours cold and 14 hours hot.
Can engraved items be returned?
No. Engraved and otherwise customized items are excluded from the 60-day return policy. Everything else can go back, unused and in its original packaging.
Does Blockhütte sell subscriptions?
No. There is no subscription and no minimum term. Every order stands on its own, and nothing renews by itself.
