Are stainless steel water bottles non-toxic?
BPA-free and toxin-free where it is tested: your water touches nothing but uncoated 18/8 steel. No liner, no coating, nothing to wear through. Independently tested for lead under the US CPSIA, and we retest every year. The current report is on our certificates page.
Is 18/8 stainless steel safe to drink from?
Yes. 18/8, also called 304, is the same food-grade alloy used in commercial kitchens and cookware. It is non-reactive and contains no BPA or phthalates. The migration and lead reports are on our certificates page. People with a nickel sensitivity should note that 18/8 contains 8 percent nickel, bound in the alloy.
Do stainless steel water bottles make water taste metallic?
Not if the steel is uncoated and food-grade. A metallic taste usually comes from a damaged inner coating or from a low-grade alloy. Our bottles have no inner lining at all, so there is no coating to wear through.
Can I put carbonated drinks in a stainless steel bottle?
Yes. The silicone seal is tested with sparkling water, which is the harder case because carbonation builds pressure. Open it slowly after shaking, as you would any pressurized bottle.
Are stainless steel water bottles dishwasher safe?
Ours are, every part of them: bottle, cap and seal. Take the seal out of the lid once a week and wash it separately. It dries fully and keeps its shape.
How do I clean a stainless steel water bottle properly?
Use the included natural-bristle brush and warm soapy water; the wide mouth lets the brush reach the bottom. For smells, fill with warm water and a spoon of baking soda, leave overnight, then rinse.
How long do drinks stay hot or cold?
25 hours cold and 13 hours hot, with no preheating. There is no battery and nothing to charge; the vacuum between the two steel walls does the work.
How many water bottles should I drink a day?
Most adults need roughly 70 to 100 oz of fluid a day. That is about two refills of a 34 oz bottle. Hot weather, exercise and altitude push it higher. Carrying one marked bottle makes the count easy: you refill it a known number of times instead of guessing.
What happens when the seal wears out?
You replace the seal, not the bottle. Every seal, cap, brush, carabiner and carry bag is sold on its own under spare parts. Defective parts are replaced free within the 3-year warranty.
