Frequently asked questions

Are stainless steel lunch boxes good for kids?

Yes. The edges are rounded and the inside is uncoated 18/8 steel. The latches are easy to latch for small hands. Box, lid and seal all go in the dishwasher. A spare seal is already in the package.

Is it lead-free?

Independently tested for lead under the US CPSIA. The report is on our certificates page, dated July 22, 2026 — free to download, no form. That covers all three products on this page.

Can I put my child’s name on it?

Yes. Express Engraving: order by 1 PM PT and we engrave it the same day. It happens in our own facility in CA. Two fonts, and four positions on the lunch box. The bottle and the food jar have one fixed position. Engraved items cannot be returned, so check the spelling before you order.

Can I send a warm lunch to school?

Yes, in the insulated food jar. 19 hours cold, 14 hours hot, with no preheating. Rinse it hot, fill it to the top, keep it closed — that is what holds the 14 hours. No microwave needed at school.

Is the food jar lid plastic?

Yes, the outer lid. It has to grip cold hands and survive being dropped. Everything your child eats from is uncoated 18/8 steel. The jar, the lid and the seal all go in the dishwasher.

What size lunch box does a child need?

Three sizes: 27 oz, 40 oz and 47 oz. 27 oz is the school lunch — 6.69 × 4.72 × 2.36 in, so it fits a small bag. 40 oz and 47 oz hold more for longer days. The size is stamped on the base.

Do you have boys or girls designs?

No prints, no characters. One steel finish, and a name engraved into it. The engraving is cut into the steel, so it will not peel or fade. That is also what tells two identical boxes apart on a daycare hook.

Is it dishwasher safe?

Yes — box, lid and seal, and the bottle and jar with their caps and seals. Take the seal out once a week so it dries fully.
