Two removable dividers make up to three compartments. Greens stay away from proteins, and nothing transfers its flavor.

Is the lunch box leak-proof?
Yes, for everyday food. The reinforced Blockhütte seal holds sauces, dressings and yogurt. The box travels sideways in a bag without spills. Thick stews travel fine. Clear soup travels upright.

Is it tested for lead?
Independently tested for lead under the US CPSIA, and we retest every year. The current report is on our certificates page. Free to download, no form.

Is this lunch box non-toxic?
BPA-free and toxin-free where it is tested: your food touches nothing but uncoated 18/8 steel. No liner, no coating, no plastic parts. The lab reports are on our certificates page. We retest every year.

Is a stainless steel lunch box safe for kids?
Yes. Independently tested for lead under the US CPSIA. The report is free to download on our certificates page. The edges are rounded, the steel is uncoated inside, and the box has no plastic parts. Easy to latch for small hands. The 27 oz is the school size, the 40 oz suits a bigger appetite. And with a name engraved on the lid, twenty bags on the same hook stop looking alike.

What material is the lunch box made of?
Food-grade 18/8 stainless steel, uncoated inside, BPA-free and plastic-free. Your food touches nothing but steel. Built to last for years.

Is this lunch box insulated?
No, it is not insulated. Lunch stays at the temperature you packed it. For food that has to be hot at noon, that is the job of the insulated food jar.

Is it dishwasher safe?
Yes: box, lid and seal. We do recommend taking the seal out once a week so it dries fully.

Can I use it in the oven or freezer?
Yes. Prep meals and freeze them, or reheat in the oven with the lid and seal removed. Never put stainless steel in the microwave.

Does the steel leave a metallic aftertaste?
No. We use non-reactive 18/8 stainless steel, unlined. Your food tastes exactly like you prepared it.

What size is the lunch box?
Three sizes: 27 oz, 40 oz and 47 oz. The 40 oz is the standard adult meal. The 27 oz is a school lunch, the 47 oz is meal prep with sides. The size is stamped on the base.

What are the exact dimensions?
27 oz 6.69 × 4.72 × 2.36 in, 0.66 lb. 40 oz 7.48 × 5.51 × 2.36 in, 0.90 lb. 47 oz 8.26 × 6.26 × 2.36 in, 0.93 lb.

Does it come with dividers?
Yes, two removable stainless steel dividers, great for separating snacks, fruits, and main meals without mixing flavors.

Can I personalize the lunch box?
Yes. Express Engraving: order by 1:00 PM PT and we engrave it the same day, in our own facility in California. The engraving is included in the price. Engraved products cannot be returned, so check your spelling before you order.

How do I care for the seal?
Take it out once a week for a proper wash. A spare seal is already in the box. When one wears out, you buy a seal. Not a new box.

What warranty does the lunch box come with?
Three years, on material and workmanship, from the date of purchase. Before that, 60 days to send it back if it is not for you. And after year three the warranty is not the point: every wearing part is sold separately, so a tired seal costs a seal. The full terms are on our warranty page.

Where is the lunch box made?
Developed and designed in Hamburg, Germany. The engraving happens in our own facility in California. Manufacturing happens in China, to our own designs and specifications. Trusted by thousands across the U.S.

Through our extensive travels in the past, it became even more important to us, for environmental and cost reasons, to always have something to eat and drink on hand. We opted for stainless steel lunch boxes and water bottles. However, these products were of inferior quality: either they were made of cheap stainless steel, were not food-safe, or they leaked. This set our goal: to bring the best lunch box to the market in terms of sustainability, quality, and value for money.

Leak-proof for everyday food

You surely know how annoying it is to constantly clean your bag because the old lunch box has leaked again? We do too. That is why we widened the seal and reinforced it. Sauces, dressings and yogurt stay in the box, even when it travels sideways in a bag. Thick stews travel fine. Clear soup travels upright.

Extraordinarily Safe

Every lunch box is equipped with our unique & fully rolled safety edges. This ensures that you and your loved ones will not suffer any injuries. (ATTENTION! These edges are exclusive to Blockhuette.)

Recyclable & Plastic-Free Packaging

Sustainability is a top priority for us! For packaging, we have opted for sustainable and recyclable cardboard. Even with the cardboard, we ensure that as little material as possible is used, to save resources.

Why a stainless steel lunch box outlasts a plastic one

Steel does not stain, does not warp and does not keep the smell of last week's curry.

How leak-proof is it, really?

Sauce, dressing and yogurt stay in the box, even sideways in a bag.

Thick stews travel fine on their side. Clear soup travels upright, and that is what the insulated food jar is for.

The seal does the work. When it wears out, you buy a seal, not a new box.

Cleaning and everyday care

Dishwasher, every part of it: box, lid, seal and dividers.

Take the seal out once a week so it dries fully. That is the only habit worth having.

The smooth steel surface gives bacteria nothing to hold on to. It does not crack or craze the way plastic does.

Which size for school, which for work

Three sizes. 27 oz for a smaller appetite or a younger child. 40 oz for school and most office days. 47 oz when lunch is the main meal.

Two removable dividers keep wet and dry apart. And with a name engraved on the lid, twenty bags on the same hook stop looking alike.
