Care for your stainless steel water bottle, step by step
Before the first use
Rinse the bottle with warm water before you drink from it the first time.
Take the seal out of the lid first. Then dry the lid and the groove the seal sits in, properly.
That last step is the one people skip. A groove that never dries fully is what tires a seal out early.
Can it go in the dishwasher?
Yes. Every part of the bottle is dishwasher safe, lid and seal included.
Take the lid off the bottle first, and take the seal out of the lid. There is no temperature you need to watch.
One tip for the bamboo on the lid: it keeps its color longer if it dries fully between washes. Standing water is what dulls it, not the wash itself.

How to sterilize it
Take the lid off. Then put the bottle in boiling water for 3 to 5 minutes.
Careful with the steam and the hot metal afterwards.
Before you pack it
Check two things. The lid is closed tight, and the seal sits properly in its groove.
That is the whole difference between a leak-proof bottle and a wet bag.
